A project for parent – Carers of children with Autism, Aspergers Syndrome or have autistic tendencies and who are desperate to have a break. They will provide an experienced project worker who will look after your child so that you are able to have a short break away from your caring role. This is a free service and relies greatly upon contributions. The project workers will carry out tasks such as: - supervising your child at home, provide continuity with specific life programs, personal care, mobility & transfer using specialised equipment, help with eating and drinking and supervision of child outside home when relevant.

Information

The Daisy Chain Club is a support group for Carers and families who have a child with Special Needs and their siblings. Every month they provide social and leisure facilities, with at least 3 qualified play workers who help the children with various activities. Visits are arranged from people of interest to the children i.e. Emergency Services/entertainers etc. Supervised craft activities at every meeting. Playstation/Nintendo64/Quiet area and pre-school toys always available. They meet at the Semilong Community Centre, Northampton on the 3rd Sunday of each month between 2 and 4p.m. and run play schemes in the school holidays.

Information

The Centre provides services and social activities for people with a hearing loss, their families and Carers in Northamptonshire. Information and advice can also be given on all aspects of deafness, including health, education, support service’s, equipment and benefits. Other services facilitated by the centre include Def 2 Youth Club, Tinnitus Group, Thursday Club, Hard of Hearing Club, Students Nights, Social Club, Church and the Sunshine Club which is open during the summer holidays.

We have an Interpreting service and a project worker who goes into local schools and delivers Basic Deaf Awareness, Training and Sign Language. We also  have a community worker who supports the local Deaf Community in various situations – home visits can be arranged.
